Apple emerges as major corporate lobbyist in Brussels
A new report reveals that Apple has become one of the largest corporate lobbyists in Brussels. Since June 2024, the company has held 257 meetings with EU decision-makers and spends between 8 and 9 million euros annually on lobbying efforts.
This high level of engagement occurs amid ongoing disputes regarding the availability of certain Apple features within the European Union, such as Siri AI. The report notes that major American tech firms, including Google, Apple, and Amazon, organize more meetings with officials from the European Parliament and the European Commission than any single European company.
Apple's annual lobbying expenditure in the EU capital reportedly exceeds the combined spending of companies such as Total, Volkswagen, and Airbus. Meta's annual lobbying budget is even higher, exceeding 10 million euros.
