Apple-1 computer with Wozniak signature heads to auction

A rare, fully functional Apple-1 computer is heading to auction at Bonhams in New York this October. Known as the ‘Hatfield Apple-1’, the device is estimated to fetch between $500,000 and $800,000. Its high valuation is driven by its working condition, its provenance, and unique historical artifacts included in the lot: a signature from co-founder Steve Wozniak on the motherboard and a 1978 letter signed by Steve Jobs addressed to the original owner, Fred Hatfield.

In separate technology news, reports suggest Apple is planning a second-generation MacBook Neo, potentially featuring an A19 Pro chip and an upgrade to 12GB of unified memory to improve multitasking and AI performance.

Additionally, Apple is ending hardware support for several older Intel-based MacBooks, including the 2018 MacBook Air and certain 2017 and 2018 MacBook Pro models, classifying them as obsolete. This move coincides with the transition to Apple Silicon, as newer operating systems like macOS 27 will require M-series chips.
