Apple adds Intel‑only app list in macOS 27 as Rosetta 2 support ends with macOS 28

Apple’s macOS 27 (code‑named Golden Gate) now includes a System Settings section that lists applications still dependent on Intel x86 code. Those apps will not be compatible with macOS 28, as Rosetta 2 – the translation layer that currently allows Intel apps to run on Apple Silicon – will be removed in the next release. The list gives users and developers a clear warning to update or replace legacy software before upgrading to macOS 28.

The change is part of Apple’s broader transition that began with the introduction of Apple Silicon in 2020. In parallel, Apple has released public betas of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, tvOS 27 and watchOS 27, while confirming that support for Intel‑only apps will cease entirely with macOS 28.
