Apple enhances Apple Pay with new features and American Express integration

Apple is introducing several updates and features to its Apple Pay service. A redesigned checkout interface coming with iOS 27 will allow users to swipe between different cards more easily and view specific card details, such as rewards and balances, through a new grid view.

A new partnership with American Express enables users to redeem Membership Rewards points directly within the Apple Pay checkout flow for online or in-app purchases. Points redeemed this way are valued at 0.7 cents each.

Additionally, a “Tap to Share” feature is expected to launch this fall. This extension of Tap to Pay on iPhone will allow customers to securely share information, such as contact details, shipping addresses, and loyalty rewards, with participating merchants via a simple tap.
