Apple opens App Store submissions for first foldable iPhone Duo

Apple has officially opened App Store submissions for the iPhone Duo, its first foldable smartphone. Developers can now submit optimized apps and games using Xcode 27.1 to ensure compatibility with the device’s unique form factor. Starting in April 2027, all App Store submissions will be required to include dedicated screenshots for the iPhone Duo.

The iPhone Duo features a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display. To support the new hardware, Apple is introducing software features in iOS 27, including redesigned Focus Mode controls for the smaller outer screen and multitasking capabilities. The device is scheduled for pre-orders on October 16, 2026, with a formal market release on October 23, 2026. Prices are expected to start at $1,999.

This launch marks Apple's entry into the foldable market, directly competing with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold series. While Samsung has established a multi-generational presence in this category, Apple is focusing on deep hardware and software integration to differentiate the Duo.
