Apple expands China Clean Energy Fund to $212 million

Apple has expanded its second phase of the China Clean Energy Fund, increasing the total committed investment to $212 million. The fund, managed by Schroders Capital, aims to add 1.1 million megawatt-hours of wind and solar power to the Chinese grid annually. Initial investments have already supported wind power projects in Guangxi and Shandong.

Apple reported that over 95% of its direct manufacturing in China now utilizes renewable energy, moving toward a goal of 100% renewable energy across its global supply chain by 2030. The company is also collaborating with suppliers to electrify aluminum smelting for MacBook Air production.

In a separate development, Apple Executive Chairman Tim Cook visited Guangzhou to observe the filming of a promotional short for the iPhone 18 Pro series, which features traditional Wing Chun martial arts. Additionally, reports indicate a structural adjustment in Apple's iPhone orders, with a 30% increase for the iPhone Duo, while orders for the Pro series remain stable through a shift toward higher-value models.
