Apple prepares iOS 27.2 FaceTime updates and new hardware launches

Apple is preparing for a significant wave of hardware and software updates. A major software enhancement in the iOS 27.2 beta introduces Dual Capture support to Group FaceTime calls. This feature, which allows users to simultaneously show both the front and rear camera feeds, was previously limited to one-on-one calls. To use this feature, participants require an iPhone 17 or newer and must be running iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27.

Regarding hardware, rumors suggest a busy October for Apple. Expected releases include a redesigned MacBook Pro, potentially named MacBook Ultra, which may feature an OLED touchscreen, a Dynamic Island, and a C2 cellular modem. Additionally, a new Apple TV 4K equipped with an A19 or A19 Pro chip and Siri AI support is anticipated. There are also reports of a new smart display, referred to as HomePad, designed to integrate with Apple’s home automation ecosystem.

In other news, Google Foto on Android has updated with new privacy and creative tools. The update includes a Redact brush within the Markup tool to pixelate or blur sensitive information like ID numbers or license plates, alongside new AI-driven Moods filters that provide a vintage aesthetic.
