Apple expands US manufacturing for iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro

Apple has announced new and expanded partnerships under its American Manufacturing Program (AMP) to increase the production of critical components within the United States. As part of this initiative, Apple is committing up to $100 million over the next three years to the Pennsylvania-based Perryman Company. Perryman will supply grade 5 titanium for the enclosure of the upcoming foldable iPhone Duo, utilizing a process that incorporates at least 80% recycled material.

Additionally, Apple is expanding its collaboration with Delaware-based Qnity Electronics to produce advanced films required for the new variable aperture camera system in the iPhone 18 Pro. The company noted that nearly 100 components for its latest devices are now produced by American suppliers across more than a dozen states.

Other key domestic manufacturing updates include: • Broadcom is expanding its Colorado facility to produce over 15 billion US-made chips under a multi-year agreement. • Corning’s Kentucky plant is expected to produce all cover glass for iPhones and Apple Watches sold globally by the end of 2026. • TSMC’s Arizona facility is projected to produce over 100 million chips for Apple this year. • Coherent continues to provide laser technology from its Texas plant for Face ID and Dynamic Island features. • Amkor Technology is constructing an advanced packaging and testing facility in Arizona, with Apple as an initial customer.
