Apple plans hardware refreshes with OLED displays and AI-integrated Apple TV
Apple is preparing significant hardware and software updates across its product ecosystem, with a major focus on integrating artificial intelligence and advanced display technologies.
A new generation of Apple TV 4K is expected to launch between September and October 2026. This model is rumored to feature the A17 Pro chip or newer, an increase in RAM to at least 8GB, and support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 via an N1 chip. These upgrades are intended to support a new version of Siri powered by generative AI, internally codenamed ‘campo’, which may debut with tvOS 27. A redesigned Siri Remote is also anticipated.
In the tablet and computer segments, Apple is planning a transition to OLED displays for several devices. The iPad mini is expected to be among the first to adopt OLED technology, potentially featuring a redesigned, more water-resistant chassis. Other devices in the pipeline for OLED upgrades include the MacBook Pro, iPad Air, iMac, and MacBook Air between 2026 and 2029.
Software updates for tvOS 27 are expected to introduce enhanced audio capabilities, such as lossless audio and 24-bit playback, though the update may exclude older Apple TV models to prioritize newer, more powerful hardware.
