Apple faces increased laptop competition amid M6 chip rollout

Apple is facing increased competition in the laptop market following the successful launch of the MacBook Neo. After shipping an estimated 1.1 million units in its initial weeks, Windows-based manufacturers are introducing rival models to compete on price and specifications.

Key competitors unveiled at IFA include the Lenovo IdeaPad Vibe, featuring Snapdragon X or AMD Ryzen AI 7 450 processors, and the ultra-light Acer Swift Blade 14, which weighs 799 grams. LG has also entered the market with the Gram Book AI 2026, which claims a battery life of up to 30.5 hours.

Simultaneously, Apple is advancing its silicon technology with the introduction of the M6 chip. This new processor, currently featured in the Mac Mini, utilizes a 2-nanometer manufacturing process, marking a significant technological shift from the previous 3-nanometer M4 and M5 generations.
