Apple faces Siri AI usage limits and settlement claims

Apple is implementing usage limits for its rebuilt Siri AI and related Apple Intelligence features. According to company fine print, features relying on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute servers—such as Siri AI, Image Playground, and specific photo editing tools—are subject to daily allowances. While some AI requests are processed locally on device hardware, server-based requests incur costs for the company. Apple has indicated that expanded access to these features may require a fee in the future, though specific pricing and limits have not been disclosed.

Separately, a $250 million class action settlement has opened for eligible iPhone owners in the United States. The lawsuit alleges that Apple failed to deliver promised Siri AI features on time. To qualify for a potential payout, which is estimated between $25 and $95 per device, claimants must have purchased an eligible iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model in the US between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Claims must be submitted by December 21, 2026. Apple has denied any wrongdoing as part of the settlement agreement.
