Apple faces supply shortages and screen issues for iPhone Duo
Apple is experiencing significant supply chain challenges following the launch of its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo. Executives, including CEO John Ternus and COO Sabih Khan, have stated that the company cannot currently predict when supply and demand will reach an equilibrium. Due to extraordinary demand and manufacturing complexities involving screens and hinges, shipping delays have extended into early 2027 for some customers.
In addition to availability concerns, Apple is addressing reports of internal screen cracking, a situation some users have dubbed “Crackgate.” While Ternus noted that only a “very small percentage” of devices have been returned due to these display issues, the company has committed to replacing affected units through AppleCare.
Despite these hurdles, Apple reported strong financial results, with iPhone revenue reaching $57.58 billion in its most recent fiscal quarter. However, the company noted that rising memory chip costs, driven by the artificial intelligence industry, remain a significant factor in its operational landscape.
