Apple hikes prices for Macs, iPads and Vision Pro amid global chip shortage

Apple announced a broad price increase for a range of its products on its online store worldwide. Prices for Mac computers rose between 5% and 20% (up to 54% for some models), while iPad models saw hikes of 15% to 25%. HomePod speakers, Apple TV and the Vision Pro mixed‑reality headset also received price rises, the latter climbing from $3,499 to $3,699. The company said the moves address surging costs for memory and storage components caused by an unprecedented shortage linked to the AI boom. Apple did not raise prices for iPhone, Apple Watch or AirPods at this time. The announcement triggered a market reaction, with Apple shares slipping about 6% on the day of the news. Analysts view the step as a rare, aggressive response to supply‑chain pressure, signalling that similar adjustments could appear if component scarcity continues.
