Apple introduces iOS 27 with Clarus Easter egg and new UI components
Apple has introduced several updates and features within its iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 ecosystem. A notable cultural addition is a hidden Easter egg featuring Clarus the Dogcow, a classic character from the 1984 Macintosh era. Created by designer Susan Kare, Clarus can be found by navigating through Settings, Appearance, and the Liquid Glass menu, where scrolling past the sample images triggers the appearance of the character and the phrase “Moof!”.
Technical updates include the release of a Figma UI Kit for iOS/iPadOS 27, which includes components for the new iPhone Duo, such as specific bezels, keyboards, and status bars. Additionally, code analysis suggests a new Apple Gift Card redemption process using NFC technology, allowing users to redeem cards by tapping them against an iPhone rather than entering codes.
On the functional side, iOS 27 is expected to support Apple Pencil hover features for certain iPad models and includes expanded Siri AI capabilities. However, some users have reported a bug where rapid swiping between the notification center and control center can cause the iPhone to become temporarily unresponsive, requiring a forced restart.
