Apple-Intel Chip Deal Could Prompt €4.6 Billion Order for ASML Equipment

Apple and Intel have reached a preliminary agreement for Intel to manufacture some of Apple's chips, a deal valued at roughly $10 billion. Bank of America’s analysis says the partnership could shift part of Apple’s chip sourcing away from Taiwan's TSMC and generate strong new demand for semiconductor‑manufacturing equipment.

If the agreement includes iPhone chips, Intel may place orders for as many as 182 hybrid‑bonding machines from BE Semiconductor and up to €4.6 billion worth of EUV lithography tools from Dutch maker ASML. In a scenario without iPhone chips, the equipment orders would be far smaller – about 15 bonding machines and €1.8 billion of ASML tools. The anticipated surge in equipment sales would boost the market for the world’s only EUV machine producer and could reshape aspects of the global chip supply chain.
