Apple introduces anniversary reminders in iOS 27.2 beta

Apple has released the iOS 27.2 beta, which introduces a new anniversary reminder feature integrated into the Call Context system. When a user attempts to call a contact on a pre-registered anniversary, the iPhone will display a notification to alert the user of the important date.

The feature draws information directly from the Contacts app. Users can manually add anniversaries to contact cards or use Siri AI to do so on compatible devices. This builds upon the Call Context functionality introduced in iOS 27, which surfaces relevant data—such as flight confirmation numbers from emails—during active calls.

While the previous birthday feature in iOS 27 included a fireworks animation during calls, the new anniversary alert focuses on utility and does not currently include a specific animation. The full release of iOS 27.2 is expected in October.
