Apple introduces app-specific parental controls in tvOS 27

Apple has introduced new parental control features in tvOS 27 for the Apple TV 4K. While previous updates allowed for content restrictions within the Apple TV app based on age ratings, the new update enables users to block specific third-party applications from being launched entirely when a child's profile is active.

This update expands the utility of user profiles, which were previously used primarily to separate viewing histories and personalized recommendations. By allowing individual app controls within the Settings menu, the update provides a more comprehensive way to manage what children can access on the device.

Additionally, Apple is expanding its profile system across other platforms; iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 are expected to bring profile functionality to iPhone and iPad for the first time.
