Apple introduces Call Screening feature for iPhone via iOS 26
Apple has introduced a new Call Screening feature in iOS 26 designed to help users manage calls from unknown numbers. The function allows the iPhone to intercept incoming calls from unrecognized callers and ask them to identify themselves and state the reason for the call before the phone rings for the user.
This system utilizes Live Voicemail technology to collect information from the caller. Once the caller provides their details, the information is displayed on the user's screen, allowing them to decide whether to answer or ignore the call. This method differs from standard anti-spam databases by directly engaging the caller to provide context.
