iPhone Duo: Apple's first foldable smartphone launches October 2026

Apple is launching its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, with pre-orders beginning October 16, 2026, and official sales starting October 23, 2026. The device features a dual-screen design with a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display, constructed with a titanium frame and a complex 100-piece hinge mechanism.

Technical specifications include the A20 Pro chip, 12GB of RAM, and an eSIM-only connectivity model. The inner screen utilizes under-display camera technology to maintain a seamless viewing experience. Performance tests on Geekbench 7 show single-core scores of 3,986 and multi-core scores of 11,067.

Pricing and repair costs are a significant point of discussion. In the US, the device starts at $1,999, while in Brazil, prices range from R$ 21,999 to R$ 30,999. Repairing the inner display without AppleCare+ is notably expensive, costing up to $999 in the US, 1,649,000 KRW in South Korea, and approximately 5,000 PLN in Poland. Apple executives have clarified that the display components are custom-designed from the ground up rather than using off-the-shelf parts from suppliers like Samsung.
