Apple introduces iPhone 18 Pro camera upgrades and hikes US product prices

Apple is preparing significant changes for its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro. The new model’s camera module will be about 2 mm thicker than previous versions because it will feature a variable‑aperture system that mechanically adjusts the lens opening to lighting conditions. The phone will also use a larger 48‑megapixel sensor (1/1.12‑inch), which together with the new optics is expected to raise manufacturing costs and could push the retail price higher.

At the same time, Apple announced price increases for a range of its devices sold in the United States. Prices for Macs, iPads, HomePod speakers, Apple TV and Vision Pro have risen, for example: MacBook Neo from $599 to $699, MacBook Air from $1,099 to $1,299, MacBook Pro from $1,699 to $1,999, iPad Air from $599 to $749, iPad Pro from $999 to $1,199, iMac from $1,299 to $1,499, Vision Pro from $3,499 to $3,699, HomePod Mini from $99 to $129, HomePod from $299 to $349, and Apple TV from $129 to $199. No price changes were announced for iPhone, Apple Watch or AirPods. The hikes are attributed to rising costs for memory chips and other components.
