Apple introduces Italian language support for iPhone Call Screening
Apple has introduced Italian language support for its Call Screening feature, known as ‘Chiedi il motivo della chiamata’ (Ask the reason for the call), within the iOS 27.2 beta. Previously restricted to English, this functionality utilizes Apple Intelligence to manage incoming calls from unknown numbers.
When an unrecognized number calls, the iPhone answers automatically before the device rings. The system asks the caller to identify themselves and state the purpose of the call. The interaction is transcribed in real-time on the user's display, allowing the recipient to read the caller's intent and decide whether to accept or decline the call without being interrupted by a ringtone. This feature serves as an intelligent filter against telemarketing and spam, distinguishing between unwanted callers and legitimate contacts such as couriers or medical offices.
