Apple introduces receipt‑scan bill‑splitting feature for iPhone
Apple is preparing to add a receipt‑scanning bill‑splitting function to its iPhone ecosystem. The service will let users photograph a restaurant or group‑event receipt, automatically recognise individual items, taxes and tips, and assign each charge to the appropriate participants. Payments can be sent directly through Apple Cash, with approval possible via Apple Watch, and the feature will be accessible through the Wallet and Messages apps. Apple plans to unveil the tool at its upcoming WWDC developer conference and roll it out with iOS 27. No official comment has been given, but the move positions Apple against existing split‑bill apps such as Splitwise, Venmo and Cash App.
