Apple introduces Siri AI and generative photo tools in iOS 27

Apple has introduced significant AI-driven updates through iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, focusing on enhanced Siri capabilities and advanced photo editing tools.

Siri AI has evolved to act as a more functional virtual assistant by integrating deeply with device information. New features allow users to find specific emails, extract information from photos—such as turning a school schedule into calendar events—and manage travel bookings. On Mac, Siri can assist with document analysis, such as comparing two PDFs to highlight key financial figures or timelines.

The Photos app also features new AI-powered tools like ‘Reframe’ and ‘Clean Up.’ The ‘Clean Up’ feature utilizes Apple Intelligence to naturally extend backgrounds and spatial areas not captured by the camera. While effective for expanding monotonous landscapes or adjusting photo ratios, the generative AI may produce unnatural results when attempting to reconstruct complex or specific details, such as text on signage.
