Apple iOS 26.6 Introduces Malicious iMessage Warning Feature
Apple is testing a new security alert in the iOS 26.6 beta that warns users when an iMessage is deemed potentially malicious. The pop‑up, titled “Malicious Message Detected,” informs the user that the message could harm the device or compromise privacy and offers three response options: “Not Now,” “Share With Apple,” and “Don’t Report.”
The feature, discovered in beta 5 code, builds on earlier protections such as BlastDoor, Lockdown Mode and contact‑key verification. While the exact triggers for the alert have not been disclosed, Apple aims to collect shared messages to improve future defenses. The iOS 26.6 beta has been released to developers and public testers, with a public rollout expected around the end of July 2026.
