Apple iOS 27 adds flexible Find My location sharing and name‑recognition feature

Apple’s iOS 27 operating system introduces a more flexible location‑sharing system within the Find My app. Users can set a custom duration or specific end date for each share, and a new pause function lets them stop sharing with a contact without notifying them, showing “location not found” to the other party. The update also adds the Liquid Glass visual design for a unified look across Apple apps.

In addition, iOS 27 adds a name‑recognition accessibility feature. When enabled, the iPhone can detect when someone says the user’s name or nickname and provide a notification. The setting is found under Settings > Accessibility > Sound / Name Recognition, where users can add spoken variants and record pronunciations. Both updates were highlighted in Apple’s iOS 27 announcements at the recent WWDC event.
