Apple iOS 27 Enables Automatic Location Sharing via Apple Watch
Apple’s upcoming iOS 27 update will modify the Find My app so that location sharing no longer depends on a single device. When the iPhone is left at home, the system will automatically use an Apple Watch that is on the wearer’s wrist to provide the shared location to contacts, improving accuracy for users who exercise or travel without their phone.
The change also adds new privacy controls: users can set a custom duration for location sharing (minutes, hours or days), specify an exact date and time for the share to end, and temporarily pause sharing for selected contacts until the end of the day. The system will revert to the iPhone as the reference device once it returns to the user’s vicinity.
