Apple iOS 27 introduces AI‑enhanced lock‑screen customizations

Apple’s iOS 27 brings a series of refinements to the iPhone lock screen. The update adds an “Expand” feature that uses Apple Intelligence to automatically extend photos beyond their original borders, allowing background images to fill the screen without harsh cropping. A new compact clock mode pushes the time upward, making room for larger dates and widgets, while the “Liquid Glass” slider lets users adjust the transparency of the clock, widgets, and buttons.

The lock screen also gains AI‑generated wallpapers: users can describe a desired scene, select a style, and have the system create an image for immediate use. Siri receives a refreshed animation that appears on the lock screen, aligning with the broader AI enhancements in iOS 27. Together with existing options for widgets, fonts, colors, and focus‑mode presets, the changes give iPhone owners deeper personalization tools.

These features are rolled out globally to iPhone users, with German‑language coverage highlighting how the new tools can make daily interaction more personal and visually tidy.
