Apple iOS 27 introduces new iPhone Lock Screen customization

Apple’s upcoming iOS 27 update introduces significant customization options for the iPhone Lock Screen, providing users with greater control over the interface design.

Key features include the integration of Image Playground, Apple’s AI image generation tool, directly into the wallpaper settings. This allows users to generate custom wallpapers from text descriptions or transform existing photos using styles such as Animation, Illustration, or Sketch. Additionally, a new AI-driven feature called Extend can intelligently expand photos that do not match the screen's aspect ratio, generating matching edges or straightening horizons to ensure a seamless fit.

Users can also manage screen clutter by dismissing the Now Playing widget during media playback. Further layout adjustments allow for the repositioning or shrinking of the clock, including the ability to move it into the top widget row to prioritize wallpaper visibility.
