Apple iOS lets iPhone and iPad control Apple TV and type questions to Siri

Apple’s iOS 27 update lets iPhone and iPad users operate an Apple TV directly from the Control Center. By adding the Siri Remote widget, all remote functions become available on compatible iPhone or iPad models, and the standalone Remote app returns to the Home Screen. The feature works with HomeKit‑compatible AirPlay 2 TVs and requires an Apple TV 3rd‑generation or later and iOS 27/iPadOS 27.

iOS 18 (and later) introduces typed queries for Siri. With Apple Intelligence enabled, users can type questions or commands in a keyboard that appears after tapping a new Control Center button or through Settings → Accessibility → Siri. The option is pre‑installed on iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max and newer devices, but can be added manually on older models. Typed Siri works on iPhone, iPad and Mac, providing a silent alternative to voice interaction and supporting users who prefer not to speak aloud.
