Apple plans OLED iPad mini launch in October 2026
Apple is preparing a major refresh of its iPad lineup, with the first iPad mini to feature an OLED display slated for an October 2026 launch. Internal documents refer to the device as code‑named J510. The new mini will use an 8.4‑inch OLED panel that promises deeper blacks, higher contrast and more vivid colours, though the refresh rate is expected to stay at 60 Hz without ProMotion. Analysts anticipate a next‑generation processor such as the A19 Pro or A20 Pro, enabling stronger performance for Apple Intelligence tasks. The upgrade will likely bring a higher price point – the current mini sells for €679 in Spain and the OLED version may cost €50‑100 more. Additional enhancements may include improved water resistance, upgraded speakers and a redesigned chassis. Apple plans to follow the mini with updates to the iPad Air and entry‑level iPad models in 2027, completing the first large‑scale tablet refresh since the 2021 redesign.
