Apple iPad mini rumored to feature A20 Pro chip and OLED screen

Reports and leaks suggest Apple is preparing a significant hardware upgrade for a future generation of the iPad mini, potentially arriving in October 2026 or as late as early 2027.

Key anticipated upgrades include a transition from LCD to an OLED display, likely supplied by Samsung Display. This new screen may feature thinner bezels, potentially increasing the viewable area to approximately 8.5 inches. The device is also expected to feature a landscape-oriented front camera to better support video calls.

Under the hood, the new model is rumored to feature the A20 Pro chip, manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process. This chip is expected to significantly boost CPU and GPU performance while enhancing AI capabilities for Apple Intelligence. To support these features, the RAM may increase from 8GB to 12GB.

Connectivity improvements may include Apple’s proprietary C1X modem for cellular data and an N1 chip supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. Other rumored changes include a redesigned vibration-based speaker structure to improve water resistance.
