Apple iPhone 17 price drop intensifies as iPhone 18 launch looms

Apple’s iPhone 17 series, consisting of the iPhone 17e, 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, has seen market prices fall by roughly NT$8,000 since launch, making the devices more attractive to buyers who do not need the latest generation. The four models span entry‑level to flagship specifications, offering varied screen sizes, camera resolutions, battery capacities and storage options.

At the same time, consumer sentiment continues to favor iPhone over Android despite Android’s openness. Commentators note that Apple’s branding and ecosystem create a strong anchoring effect, leading many to perceive iPhone purchases as a status symbol and to delay buying Android phones even when they may offer similar performance at lower cost. With the upcoming iPhone 18 expected to bring higher performance, AI features and camera upgrades, potential buyers are weighing the current value of the iPhone 17 line against waiting for the next generation.
