Apple iPhone 17e utilizes chips designed by Israeli engineers

Apple’s iPhone 17e utilizes in-house connectivity chips designed by the company’s engineering teams in Haifa and Herzliya, Israel. These components include the C1X 5G cellular modem and the N1 wireless chip, which handles Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions.

While the connectivity chips were developed with Israeli engineering, the main A19 processor is fabricated by TSMC in Taiwan. The integration of this technology has sparked online speculation regarding security, though no forensic evidence has substantiated claims of state-mandated implants or surveillance backdoors in the consumer devices.

In a separate move, Apple acquired the Tel Aviv-based startup Q.ai for approximately $2 billion in January 2026. The acquisition focuses on silent-speech and facial micromovement technology intended for use in wearables and AI assistants.
