Apple iPhone 18 lineup to get 9 GB RAM on base models, 12 GB on Pro variants
Apple is planning to equip the entry‑level iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e with 9 GB of RAM, up from the 8 GB used in the iPhone 17 series. The increase is intended to keep Apple Intelligence features running smoothly, although two advanced AI functions in the upcoming iOS 27 – dynamic Siri voice adjustment and high‑precision speech‑to‑text – still require 12 GB of RAM and will be limited to the Pro models.
The flagship iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the rumored foldable iPhone Ultra will retain 12 GB of RAM, matching the current Pro lineup. Apple is expected to unveil the Pro models at its September event, while the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and the second‑generation iPhone Air are slated for a later release around March 2027. Analysts note that component shortages could push the price of the base models up by $100‑$200 compared with the iPhone 17 series.
