Apple iPhone 18 Pro and Ultra expected to launch on Sept 9

Apple is expected to hold its annual iPhone event on the first Tuesday or Wednesday after U.S. Labor Day, pointing to September 8 with September 9 as the more likely date. The keynote should introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and Apple’s first fold‑able smartphone, tentatively called the iPhone Ultra. Standard models such as the iPhone 18, 18e and iPhone Air are slated for a separate spring 2027 release.

Analysts anticipate higher prices, with the iPhone 18 Pro possibly $200‑$300 above the previous generation and the iPhone Ultra starting near $2,000. New hardware is said to include a 2‑nanometer A20 chipset, a variable‑aperture camera, and a slimmer hinge for the fold‑able. Pre‑orders could begin within a day of the event, with retail availability in mid‑September. Rising memory‑chip costs driven by AI demand are cited as a factor in the price increase.
