Apple iPhone 18 Pro data leak after Tata Electronics hack
A ransomware group called World Leaks breached Tata Electronics, one of Apple’s key manufacturing partners in India. The attackers stole more than 200 000 files – over 630 GB – and posted them on the dark web. The leaked material contains confidential Apple documents for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, including component schematics, supplier lists, internal code names, and photos and videos of drop‑test trials at Tata’s facilities.
Apple said it is “concerned” and is investigating the breach together with Tata. Tata has restricted internal system access and hired a global forensic firm to assess the incident. The leak reveals details of Apple’s supply‑chain that the company normally keeps secret, potentially giving rivals, counterfeiters and suppliers insight into where Apple sources chips, batteries, cameras and other parts. The breach comes as Apple expands production in India, aiming for about 26 % of global iPhone output by 2026, and follows recent price hikes for iPads and MacBooks.
The exposure has prompted Apple to aggressively remove the leaked videos from social platforms and to tighten security measures, highlighting the growing risk that a single supplier’s vulnerability can jeopardise the confidentiality of a major tech firm’s flagship product.
