iPhone 18 launch hype exploited by fraudulent websites
Cybersecurity experts at Kaspersky have issued warnings regarding a surge in fraudulent websites exploiting the hype surrounding the launch of the iPhone 18. These scam sites are operating in multiple languages, including English, Arabic, and Portuguese, to target a global audience.
Common tactics identified include offering non-existent discounts of up to 25% and promoting device colors or storage capacities that differ from official Apple specifications. Some fraudulent platforms encourage payments via Bitcoin and claim to offer flexible payment plans or full refunds to build false credibility.
Beyond financial theft, these sites are designed to harvest sensitive personal information, such as full names, phone numbers, email addresses, and WhatsApp contact details. This data is often used in subsequent social engineering schemes. Experts advise consumers to remain vigilant against offers that appear too good to be true.
