Apple iPhone 18 Pro slated for price rise and new specs amid component shortages

Apple’s chief executive Tim Cook warned that the next iPhone 18 Pro models will carry higher prices because of soaring component costs, especially for AI‑focused chips and a global RAM shortage dubbed “RAMageddon.” Analysts estimate an additional $270 in manufacturing costs, which could push the premium iPhone’s starting price well above $1,300.

Supply‑chain leaks suggest several hardware upgrades: a new Dark Cherry color palette, a Dynamic Island that could be reduced by up to 50%, the A20 Pro processor built on a 2‑nanometre process delivering a notable performance and AI boost, a 48‑megapixel main camera with variable aperture, and an LTPO+ display with improved energy efficiency. Cook also announced his planned September 2026 departure, naming John Ternus as his successor.
