Apple iPhone 18 rumored for Spring 2027 launch with A20 chip

Apple is reportedly planning a staggered release for the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, with a potential launch in Spring 2027. This follows a strategy of releasing high-end Pro models and a foldable iPhone Duo in September 2026.

The standard iPhone 18 is expected to feature the A20 chip, manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process. To manage high production costs, the A20 chip may include technical compromises compared to the A20 Pro. These include using the older Package-on-Package (PoP) assembly method instead of the advanced Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module (WMCM), which could impact heat dissipation and sustained performance. Additionally, the die size is estimated to be reduced to between 70 and 80 mm².

Other rumored specifications for the iPhone 18 include a 6.3-inch 120Hz LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display, 48MP dual cameras, and a six-core CPU. In India, the device is expected to be priced at approximately INR 82,000.
