The launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series has been met with a mix of technical praise and consumer reports of hardware issues. Users have reported instances of random device reboots during Face ID authentication, Apple Pay usage, and phone calls. Additionally, some customers have observed thin green lines appearing on their displays.

Technically, the iPhone 18 Pro introduces a mechanical variable aperture system in its 48-megapixel main camera, though teardowns suggest this component may be sensitive to strong magnetic fields. The device also features a smaller Dynamic Island, achieved by moving Face ID infrared sensors beneath the OLED panel. However, Apple has updated its documentation to clarify that new Texture and Grain photographic styles are exclusive to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo, excluding previous models.

On the supply chain side, Apple has reportedly accepted Samsung's 2027 memory price quotes, which include significant increases for LPDDR5X RAM and NAND Flash. Performance testing has also revealed that the 1TB and 2TB storage variants of the iPhone 18 Pro utilize slower QLC NAND memory, which may result in lower write speeds compared to the TLC memory found in 256GB and 512GB models.
