Apple iPhone 4S marks 15th anniversary of Siri integration
The iPhone 4S marks its 15th anniversary since its initial release in 2011. The device is most notable for being the first iPhone to feature the integrated Siri voice assistant, which allowed users to perform tasks such as making calls, sending messages, and setting reminders using natural language.
Siri technology originated from a DARPA-funded research project led by SRI International. Apple acquired Siri Inc. in 2010 following its appearance on the App Store. Beyond the introduction of Siri, the iPhone 4S featured significant hardware upgrades over its predecessor, including the dual-core A5 chip, an 8 MP camera capable of 1080p video, and the introduction of a 64 GB storage option. The device launched running iOS 5, which introduced services like iMessage and iCloud.
