Apple's iPhone Air 2 to launch 2027 with bigger battery, dual cameras

Apple is preparing to unveil the second‑generation iPhone Air in the spring of 2027, alongside the standard iPhone 18 and the budget‑oriented iPhone 18e. The upcoming model is set to address the main criticisms of the first‑gen Air – its limited battery life and single‑camera setup.

Leaks indicate the iPhone Air 2 will house a roughly 3,500 mAh battery, about an 11 % increase over the 3,149 mAh cell in the current version, improving all‑day endurance. A dual‑camera system is also expected, pairing a 48 MP primary sensor with a 48 MP ultra‑wide lens, replacing the original single‑lens design.

Performance should benefit from Apple’s next‑generation A20 chipset, fabricated on a 2‑nanometre process for higher efficiency and lower power draw. To retain the ultra‑thin profile despite the larger battery and extra camera, the phone is rumored to use Samsung’s CoE OLED technology, which reduces screen thickness. Other refinements may include a smaller Dynamic Island, a miniaturised Face ID module, and a new “lavender‑purple” colour option. Pricing is projected to rise by roughly $50 compared with the first‑gen Air.
