Apple iPhone Air 2 rumored to feature ultra-thin 5.2mm design

Leaks from South Korean sources suggest Apple is developing the second-generation iPhone Air, potentially slated for a spring 2027 release. The new model is expected to be significantly thinner, with a rumored thickness of approximately 5.2mm, a 0.4mm reduction from the current model. This would make the device as thin as the iPhone Duo in its unfolded state.

Despite the slimmer chassis, reports indicate Apple aims to improve battery life by utilizing higher-energy-density battery technology. Rumors suggest the capacity could increase to roughly 3,500mAh, up from the current 3,149mAh. Hardware upgrades may also include the A20 Pro chip, a dual 48MP camera system featuring an additional ultra-wide lens, and a more compact Dynamic Island design.

To further optimize efficiency and battery endurance, the device might incorporate Apple-designed N2 wireless connectivity chips and C2 modems. While these details remain unconfirmed by Apple, the leaks point toward a strategic focus on balancing extreme thinness with enhanced performance and photography capabilities.
