Apple iPhone Duo camera placement attributed to engineering difficulties

The placement of the under-screen camera on the iPhone Duo’s inner display is reportedly due to engineering challenges. According to leaker Instant Digital, the camera was not positioned in the top-right corner to avoid alignment issues with the thickest part of the device, which is the rear camera module on the opposite side.

Achieving a perfectly aligned under-display camera across both screens would require extremely thin components to maintain the device's slim profile. Future generations may see the camera moved to the top-right corner to match the outer screen's layout.

Under-screen camera technology has historically faced difficulties with image quality. Previous attempts by manufacturers like ZTE, Xiaomi, and Samsung have struggled with light scattering and pixel density issues, which can result in a hazy effect or lower-resolution patches on the display.
