Apple iPhone Duo faces scrutiny over data latency issues

Apple’s newly announced iPhone Duo, a foldable smartphone featuring a 7.6-inch main screen, has faced scrutiny following a viral screenshot regarding its multitasking capabilities. The device was intended to allow users to watch live sports, such as MLB games, while simultaneously viewing real-time statistics via applications like Real Sports.

However, a screenshot from a World Series matchup between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers revealed a significant latency issue. While the live video feed showed a fly ball still in the air, the data application had already updated to show Aaron Judge committing a fielding error. This discrepancy caused the data to ‘spoiler’ the live action for viewers.

Technical reports indicate that due to iOS limitations, the dual screens do not function as two entirely independent video playback areas; starting one video may pause another. The iPhone Duo is scheduled for pre-order on October 16, with official sales beginning October 23. Prices for the 256GB model start at HK$17,499, reaching up to HK$27,999 for the 2TB version.
