Apple iPhone Duo foldable smartphone launch details

Apple is preparing for the launch of the iPhone Duo, its first foldable smartphone, featuring a 7.6-inch internal display and a 5.4-inch outer display. The device is powered by the A20 Pro chip and is expected to be available for purchase starting October 23, with pre-orders beginning October 16.

In the United States, Apple plans to offer a personalized experience at physical Apple Stores. Using a system likely related to the Presto technology, employees can customize the device's initial boot screen to display the buyer's name in English or Spanish before the box is even opened. This feature is expected to be exclusive to US retail locations.

Software developers are already being equipped with Xcode 27.1 to optimize applications for the new hardware. New design requirements for App Store submissions will include dedicated screenshots for the Duo format starting in April 2027.

Retail strategies include large-scale displays at flagship stores, such as the New York Fifth Avenue location, which may feature over 150 demo units. Pricing varies significantly by region: in China, the device starts at 15,999 CNY, while in Vietnam, the 2 TB model is priced at 103,999,000 VND. In Brazil, pre-orders also begin on October 16.
