Apple launches iPhone 18 Pro and announces iPhone Duo foldable

Apple has officially launched the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max series, featuring the new A20 Pro chip and upgraded camera systems with variable apertures. The release includes several new models and accessories, such as the Apple Watch Series 12 and updated AirPods.

Following the Pro series, Apple is set to release its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, on October 23. The iPhone Duo features a dual-screen design with a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display, supporting Apple Pencil. While the device aims to redefine the foldable experience through software integration and visual continuity, some early reviews have raised concerns regarding overheating during high-load tasks like 4K video recording. Apple has responded by suggesting that individual user tests may be unrepresentative.

The entry of Apple into the foldable market is expected to intensify competition with Samsung Electronics. Market analysts from Counterpoint Research predict Samsung will maintain a 38% share of the global foldable market, with Apple projected to follow at 25%. Global pricing for the iPhone Duo varies significantly by region, with Turkey recording the highest price for the 256GB model at approximately $4,742, compared to $1,999 in low-tax US regions.
