Apple foldable iPhone faces low consumer interest in US
A recent YouGov survey conducted for CNET reveals that 75% of American adults surveyed have no interest in purchasing Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone, reportedly referred to as the iPhone Ultra.
Interest levels varied by demographic, with Generation Z showing the highest receptivity (31%) and Millennials following at 32%. Conversely, interest was lowest among Baby Boomers and Generation X. A significant driver for this lack of interest is the anticipated price point. While respondents expressed an average willingness to pay approximately $781, industry projections suggest the device could retail for over $2,000.
The survey also indicates broader consumer sensitivity to rising electronics costs. Approximately 41% of respondents are reconsidering their smartphone upgrade plans due to expected price increases. Some consumers noted they might opt for older models, refurbished devices, or different brands to mitigate costs.
