Apple keynote features James Bond references during leadership transition

During the keynote introducing the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo, Apple included several cinematic references to the James Bond film franchise. These homages coincided with a leadership transition at the company.

Observers noted that the opening film, titled ‘Surprise and Shine’, utilized shots mirroring the 2012 film ‘Skyfall’. Specifically, the sequence featuring former CEO Tim Cook emulated the film's aerial shots and lighting. When introducing new CEO John Ternus, the presentation featured a profile shot of him walking across the frame, reminiscent of the character 007.

A third technical reference was identified in the animation for the iPhone 18 Pro’s new variable aperture. The circular animation used to illustrate the sensor's movement closely resembles the iconic James Bond gunbarrel sequence. While Apple has not officially confirmed these references, the similarities have been widely highlighted by filmmakers and online commentators.
