Apple's iPhone Air 2 expected with dual 48 MP cameras, A20 Pro chip and smaller Face ID

Rumors from leakers Jon Prosser and Bloomberg indicate that Apple’s second‑generation iPhone Air will address the shortcomings of the 2025 model. The upcoming iPhone Air 2 is expected to sport a dual‑camera system, adding a 48 MP ultra‑wide lens alongside the primary 48 MP sensor, eliminating the single‑camera limitation of its predecessor.

The device is also slated to use Apple’s new A20 Pro SoC, built on a 2‑nanometre process and packaged with a wafer‑level multi‑chip module (WMCM) to improve heat dissipation and efficiency. A more compact Face ID sensor module is rumored to free internal space, allowing a 35 % reduction in the Dynamic Island notch and preserving the phone’s ultra‑slim profile. Other expected traits include a 6.6‑inch OLED display, titanium chassis with double‑layer Ceramic Shield glass, and potential battery‑life gains to complement the thinner design.

Launch timing is projected for spring 2027, with Apple targeting higher performance and photography capability while keeping the Air line’s lightweight, thin aesthetic. Pricing has not been disclosed, but analysts suggest it could be higher than the current model, reflecting the upgraded hardware.
